Co-founder of Push Pin Studios, Chwast helped shape popular art from 1950 on. In addition to creating food packaging, posters and magazine art, Chwast also wrote and illustrated children’s books, including The Pancake King. Blending design with illustration is common now, but not before Chwast. He merged the two in a way that was playful and had a lasting impact on graphic design.
